You're in excellent hands with Dr Chan. He is one of Australia's most experienced laser and intra-ocular micro eye surgeons, and has been a surgical partner at Medownick Laser Eye Clinic for almost 20 years.
Dr Chan specialises in every form of refractive laser eye surgery, including SmartSight, LASIK, and Touchless Robotic Trans-PRK. He trained in Germany to perform the SmartSight laser eye procedure, before introducing it to Victoria at Medownick in December 2023.
Dr Chan also performs all cataract and lensectomy procedures at Medownick, as well as implantable collamer lenses (ICLs). He routinely performs all surgeries without the need for injections around the eye, which is of great comfort to our patients, and requires the highest level of surgical skill.

Why Dr Christopher Chan is a pioneer
Dr Chan pioneered SmartSight laser eye surgery in Victoria. He is the first eye laser specialist in Victoria and one of the first in Australia to use the new generation, German-engineered ATOS Femtosecond Laser to perform keyhole laser eye surgery, sometimes known as "Flapless Lasik" or "Small incision Lenticule Extraction".
In addition, Dr Chan was the first surgeon in Victoria to implant the "crystalens" intra-ocular lens (IOL), and the first across South-East Asia to implant the IC8 IOLs.
Personal Life
Dr Chan lives in Melbourne with his wife, three children, and cavoodle Max.
