At Medownick Laser Clinic, we can give your eyes a thorough health check and detect any early signs of cataracts. There may even be other reasons for visual loss in addition to cataracts, particularly problems involving the retina and optic nerve.
It is important that we detect any of these problems, as perfect vision may not return after cataract removal. If such conditions are present, we can advise you how much visual improvement you can expect as a result of cataract removal.
How fast does a cataract develop?
It varies with each individual, and may even vary from eye to eye.
But most cataracts develop with the aging process, and will grow gradually over the years, often starting in the mid-40s. Other cataracts, especially with younger people, and those with diabetes, may progress rapidly over a few months. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict exactly how fast a cataract will develop in any given person.
